The OLV garden is located along the fence down from the OLV (Our Lady of Victory) school's parking lot off of North Lake Ave. The garden was created in the spring of 2008. On Earth Day 2008, volunteers helped to remove the unseemly mass of brush and weeds at its location whose main purpose seemed to collect the garbage that would be blown in by the wind - one Frear Park Conservancy member had been hauling out many bags of garbage each spring before the existence of the garden. After the area had was cleared, 15 cubic yards of topsoil was spread out with the help of many OLV students a few weeks later, and various plants, flowers, and groundcover were planted, including choreopsis, rhododendrons, azelea, hemlock, bluebeard, cedum, and hosta's. Mulch was spread around the new plants and flowers in the summer to prevent weeds from growing back up, and bulbs were planted in the fall for some showy spring blooming.
